Alec Sharp on getting traction for 'process'

10 February

We are very excited to have Alec Sharp back in Australasia! While in Brisbane, Alec spoke at the Business Process Modelling Roundtable about getting and maintaining the support and participation of managers, subject matter experts, and process participants in a more “process oriented” approach to doing business. He shared the reasons why attempts to adopt a more "process oriented" approach are often met with indifference, misunderstanding, skepticism, and even outright hostility. Reasons include:

  • not addressing the unpleasant outcomes of previous “process” initiatives
  • assuming that everyone knows what a business process is
  • using language and methods that are unsuitable for mere mortals
  • and the ever-popular failure to acknowledge that “we’re working hard and meeting our targets!”

Alec Sharp has delivered hundreds of workshops around the world on working with business processes and related business analysis techniques, as well as top-rated presentations at international conferences. Alec is the creator of our Advanced Business Process Modelling course which runs once a year.
